Welcome to the Barn! I’m Kristi Quill, the artist behind Barn Owl Primitives.
I never imaged my passion for crafting and farmhouse-style decor would blossom into a full-time business, but I’m so incredibly grateful of this amazing journey we’re on.
It all began in 2009 when I was a wife and full-time mother of two just looking to earn a little extra money during the holidays. I started making hand-painted, door-hanging snowmen for my family and friends. They were so well received that friends of friends started placing orders. As the demand continued, I also started creating handcrafted wooden signs.
The painted signs, I found, really ignited something in me. As I arranged letters and mixed colors, I realized how much words matter — really, truly matter. Words help us tell a story. Words inspire. Words heal. With that, Barn Owl Primitives was born.
In 2014, my husband, Sean, left his full-time job to help me grow BOP. Along the way, we were struck by a life-changing realization: being makers was important to us. Creating things with our hands, our brains, and our hearts was our number-one motivation.
Over the last few years, we’ve added quality goods from our favorite artisans and brands to help complement our hand-painted signs and vintage-inspired home decor. Just like our own products produced in-house, we promise the utmost quality.
